All it takes is one.

You may have tested and thought a herd was protected. The truth is that no BVD test could provide optimum assurance…until now. BoVir® is the first and only accurate BVD test to close the Uncertainty Gap™.

BVDV (bovine viral diarrhea virus) is a disease with devastating economic consequences. Just one infected animal can result in a full-scale livestock epidemic within a very short period of time.

In fact, 70 to 90 percent of all BVDV infections can occur without the appearance of clinical signs, putting most cattle herds at risk for infection. Additionally, persistently infected (PI) animals remain infected for life. They shed large amounts of the virus, infecting herd mates and introducing the disease to other cattle.

Why test?

Vaccines can help, and surveillance and biosecurity are also essential. But no step is more important to herd protection than rigorous testing in view of BVD’s complexity.

Early identification and removal of PI animals is the most critical measure for achieving successful eradication. Several scientific journals and diagnostic studies show that BVD testing helps eliminate unnecessary losses. Large-scale screening on a preventative basis can ultimately lead to a significant reduction of overall costs and the economic impact that cow and cattle losses create.

Why BoVir®?

Nothing is better at exposing BVDV than BoVir®. Its effectiveness is validated by European governmental reference labs for its ability to detect all 68 referenced strains of BVDV, including atypical North American and European strains, such as the HOBI and H138 strains.

A state-of-the-art assay developed by AnDiaTec®, BoVir® is a highly sensitive and reliable diagnostic approach to ensure accurate detection. It’s the most superior test available for three simple reasons.

  • It accurately identifies and differentiates both persistent infection and transient infection, the two types of BVDV infection
  • There are no false positives and no false negatives when pooled according to scientifically approved protocols; only fast, accurate results
  • Highly sensitive, it detects viruses even within the first days of birth when maternal antibodies will often mask the infection for up to 120 days

It's your investment, your reputation. Now you can have your lab use the most advanced, most accurate diagnostic test on the market with greater certainty. You can't afford to rely on labs using tests or protocols that offer the risk of false negative or false positive results.

You’ve made the right decision to invest in animal health. Be sure to use the best detection method possible. Ask for BoVir®.
